Multiplayer - Info on Connection Problems

Hi there mates!

There is some new information regarding the multiplayer problems, posted by Crytek’s Community Manager Alex Werner.

Greetings Community!

We just would like to let you know that we are aware of the currently occurring issues regarding playing Crysis Multiplayer online. We are already in touch with Gamespy, EA and the world-wide server provider to resolve the problems. This topic has the highest priority for us now and we hope to come up with a solution as quickly as possible.

What we figured out so far already is that when you uninstall the MP Beta/SP Demo after you have installed the full version of Crysis your CD-Key might get removed accidentally. If this is the case please have a look at the workaround we provide further below. There is no guarantee that these work, but they have been helpful to many out there already.

> Mainly all he suggested is already tested with negative result. One solution is not tested though :

Add CD-Key manually to Registry

1. Windows XP: Start -> Run
2. Windows Vista: Start -> All Programs -> Accessoires -> run
3. Type in "regedit" (without "") and press Enter
4. Windows 32-Bit: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Crysis\ergc
5. Windows 64-Bit: Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic
Arts\Electronic Arts\Crysis\ergc
6. Check if your CD-Key is available as value in the right window. If not
double-click on "(Default)" and type in the key without "-" and in capital letters.

TESTED : MY KEY IS THERE. NO CURE THEN :(

Tested with another network - Failure!

Ok!

Now i am pretty sure that the server authentication failure - issue is caused by other matters. And by this i mean the problem can be targeted to EA / Gamespy.

As i promised i tested Crysis in my home, where i am connected to different kind of network than i normally do. This network is connected straight to internet so i am not affected by hardware firewall / nat. Test result is still the same. Failure still exists.

I even created a new gamespy account to be sure that i build everything piece by piece.

This is what i did today :

  1. Uninstalled the game and removed every tiny pieces from registry.
  2. Booted the computer to make sure registry is optimized.
  3. Re-installed the game.
  4. Checked the software firewall and setup the right udp / tcp ports for the game.
  5. Created a new GameSpy - account.
  6. Updated the Punkbuster
Test result > Server Authentication Failed!

After this i did these moves :

  1. Closed the software firewall
  2. Used the crysis_code .exe located in DVD.
Test result > Server Authentication Failed!

Ok, folks. I am pretty sure i have done everything to solve this problem. Now i am crossing my fingers that the first patch will include the cure for this issue. I am very frustrated about this situation.

Money talks, as some wise has said. Ea wanted to rush with this release and this is the result. Hopefully someday (which i doubt), they will do their job before the actual release day.

My testing is now over. But be active and let me know if u have other ideas to get this game to work.

Take care.
