Success! - Multiplayer working

Hi there folks!

Five days and numerous re-installations later the multiplayer part of the game is working now. At least it works for me, but everyone should try if you are able to play it too. Somehow it started to work today and i didn´t do anything to solve the problem.

I think EA / GameSpy finally found the problem or part of it and fixed it. I truly hope that all you who have been visiting this blog have now 100% working multiplayer.

I have to thank all the posters and commentators for participating this annoying issue we have faced with. I keep the blog alive for the backup if something new and interesting pops out. I hope you still visit site regularly to give comments, both negative and positive about this game.

If you are still having problems now it is time to update your punkbuster and enter your cd-key for the very last time. I think it actually works now!

Take care,

maxtuska

Multiplayer - Info on Connection Problems

Hi there mates!

There is some new information regarding the multiplayer problems, posted by Crytek’s Community Manager Alex Werner.

Greetings Community!

We just would like to let you know that we are aware of the currently occurring issues regarding playing Crysis Multiplayer online. We are already in touch with Gamespy, EA and the world-wide server provider to resolve the problems. This topic has the highest priority for us now and we hope to come up with a solution as quickly as possible.

What we figured out so far already is that when you uninstall the MP Beta/SP Demo after you have installed the full version of Crysis your CD-Key might get removed accidentally. If this is the case please have a look at the workaround we provide further below. There is no guarantee that these work, but they have been helpful to many out there already.

> Mainly all he suggested is already tested with negative result. One solution is not tested though :

Add CD-Key manually to Registry

1. Windows XP: Start -> Run
2. Windows Vista: Start -> All Programs -> Accessoires -> run
3. Type in "regedit" (without "") and press Enter
4. Windows 32-Bit: Go to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Electronic Arts\Electronic Arts\Crysis\ergc
5. Windows 64-Bit: Go to
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\Electronic
Arts\Electronic Arts\Crysis\ergc
6. Check if your CD-Key is available as value in the right window. If not
double-click on "(Default)" and type in the key without "-" and in capital letters.

TESTED : MY KEY IS THERE. NO CURE THEN :(

Tested with another network - Failure!

Ok!

Now i am pretty sure that the server authentication failure - issue is caused by other matters. And by this i mean the problem can be targeted to EA / Gamespy.

As i promised i tested Crysis in my home, where i am connected to different kind of network than i normally do. This network is connected straight to internet so i am not affected by hardware firewall / nat. Test result is still the same. Failure still exists.

I even created a new gamespy account to be sure that i build everything piece by piece.

This is what i did today :

  1. Uninstalled the game and removed every tiny pieces from registry.
  2. Booted the computer to make sure registry is optimized.
  3. Re-installed the game.
  4. Checked the software firewall and setup the right udp / tcp ports for the game.
  5. Created a new GameSpy - account.
  6. Updated the Punkbuster
Test result > Server Authentication Failed!

After this i did these moves :

  1. Closed the software firewall
  2. Used the crysis_code .exe located in DVD.
Test result > Server Authentication Failed!

Ok, folks. I am pretty sure i have done everything to solve this problem. Now i am crossing my fingers that the first patch will include the cure for this issue. I am very frustrated about this situation.

Money talks, as some wise has said. Ea wanted to rush with this release and this is the result. Hopefully someday (which i doubt), they will do their job before the actual release day.

My testing is now over. But be active and let me know if u have other ideas to get this game to work.

Take care.

What EA answered?

Yesterday i forwarded some serious questions straight to EA´s support and today i got some kind of answer. Email included this link to their support area.

At least they tried to resolve the problem. Or that email was just automatically forwarded. The sad thing is that i can´t test those things the link suggested.

Why? > Im connected to University´s network which is actually pretty secured with the firewall / nat. And those are things i can´t configure by myself. But i can confirm if that is the problem, because tomorrow i will be connected to a different network.

But the facts are :

- I have played the multiplayer beta without any problems
- I assume the beta and retail works with the same ports?
- All other multiplayer games are working ok for example Battlefield 2
- Different ports though

But this might be the issue. I confirm that later.

What is my problem?

Ok folks, here is the deal.

Are u facing the Server Authentication Failed - situation too?

I have suffered this annoying error now for 2 days. I pre-ordered the game over a month ago just to confirm that i am able to enjoy this game right after it is released. But i guess i am not the luckiest guy which comes to games released by EA. Everyone might know how bad start it was with the Battlefield 2 - game with all the billions of patches. At least i can play that game online.

Check this out - Screen about the console message

What i have done so far to solve this problem with no luck.

1. I have re-installed the game 7 times.
2. I have fixed the registry between each installation
3. I have updated the punkbuster to the latest version.
4. I have configured the firewall everything is ok.
5. I have also tested the game without firewall - No luck.
6. I have tried the crysis_code.exe to re-enter the key.
7. I have contacted EA about this case.
8. I have entered the cd key to install and to register @ EA.com.
9. I have tested the multiplayer beta and it worked ok.
10. I have uninstalled the multiplayer beta and everything related to it

Am i missing something? - Any ideas?

Nothing seems to get it to work. So, i am pretty sure that this situation can´t be solved without EA´s contribution and efforts. I hope they can fix this problem very soon by doing the patch. I am not alone with this problem.

I am not newbie in gaming since i have played different games activily from the late 80´s so i think i am mature enough to understand that something really is wrong now.

GG EA. Fix the game pls! Or give me my money back!

What is the problem?

Well good question mate.

There are plenty of issues people are facing with. I am not going to release all the problems people are having with this game. But believe me, there are plenty of problems with Crysis.

Because i have the Server Authentication Failed - problem, i want to gather all information about exactly this situation. I know there are lots of other players who have this problem too. Hopefully this blog will give you the information you are looking for.

Why this blog?

I am releasing this blog because of the issues online gamers are facing with Crysis. The majority of gamers have problems with the multiplayer part.

I myself am having exactly the same issues. That is why i am keeping this blog, to inform u how the things are going on here, to gather the key points of available issues. Hopefully EA will also do its own part of this big hassle we are facing with.

At the moment i am not able to play Crysis multiplayer online.
